Laparoscopic Procedures
As part of our commitment to providing animals with minimally invasive, safe surgical care, the team at Middendorf Animal Hospital has incorporated laparoscopic procedures in our catalog of services. Since 1996, we have provided veterinary care for dogs, cats, rabbits, and small mammals. Our office is based in Florence, KY, and welcomes clients from across area communities.
What is laparoscopic surgery?
This type of surgery is performed by inserting a thin tube with a camera and light on it into the abdomen through a small incision. This essentially acts as the doctor’s eye, as it provides a close-up view of a pet’s internal organs.
In its earliest inception, this tool was mostly used as a diagnostic tool to obtain tissue samples and examine internal organs. It has since developed into a surgical tool to allow for a range of surgical procedures, including biopsies, mass removals, ovariectomy, and more.
