Laser Therapy

There are many benefits to laser therapy for pets. This innovative treatment is painless, non-invasive, and requires no medication to administer. It uses a beam of laser light to deeply penetrate tissue without damaging it. The laser energy induces a natural, biological response called photobiomodulation, which leads to reduced inflammation, increased circulation, and increased healing speed.

We use laser therapy to treat a range of conditions in pets including: post-surgical pain, muscle pain, joint pain, chronic non-healing wounds, arthritis, and some skin conditions.

Laser Surgery

Our practice utilizes laser surgery as part of our commitment to providing our patients with the highest quality care and treatments. This treatment modality has many benefits to your pet, as it results in less pain and swelling, reduced bleeding, and a cleaner surgical environment. We believe this improves the standard of care your pet receives.

This type of surgery has many applications, including spaying and neutering, declawing, tumor removal, orthopedic surgery, and more. It can also be combined with laparoscopic procedures to perform surgery in more difficult areas.

Dr. Middendorf Partners to Help Sea Turtles

I am truly honored to have the opportunity to teach laser surgery for Cutting Edge Lasers.  Yes, I love teaching surgery, but better than that I had the chance to work on sea turtles! How cool is that?! This was by far the coolest thing I have done in my career.

These animals are magnificent and need our help. The green sea turtles suffer from a virus called Fibropapillomatosis which can kill them in the ocean. Sea Turtles Inc. in South Padre, Texas is leading the charge to try to help these turtles, along with the doctors at the Gladys Porter Zoo in Brownsville, Texas.

I performed tumor removals and taught Dr. Tom and Dr. Diane to use the laser to excise the tumors. The laser helps to cauterize the vessels and the nerve endings, allowing the removal of the masses. All four turtles did fantastic and the technicians were spot on with the anesthesia. Soon these turtles will be released back into the ocean.

Many thanks to Brian Thurlow and his staff for all the work they do. They rely on donations so if you can, please help them by visiting http://www.seaturtleinc.org.
